Waiheke Island will be playing host to two fun events in February and SeaLink has summer event package prices. The newly established Breeze Waiheke Island Wine and Food Festival is set for 6 February Package options start at $95 per person which includes a ferry ticket, bus transfers and entry to the Wine and Food Festival. Kids will travel for free on all SeaLink ferries and entry and activities at the festival are free too, meaning families can enjoy a great day out.

Sculpture Walk on Waiheke

Waiheke Island's coastal walkway features the country's most outstanding outdoor sculpture exhibition for three weeks from 23 January. The specially created works in the 'headland SCULPTURE ON THE GULF WAIHEKE ISLAND' exhibition will be set along the 2km Matiatia- Church Bay walkway amongst the stunning coastal scenery. Sculpture in the landscape, on the rocks, floating on the ocean and transforming the horizon of sea and sky will surprise all along the walk.

Langham Place Vineyard Resort + Spa, Waiheke Island

Waiheke Island will get its first international resort in 2010 if the developer successfully sells the freehold unit titles to the 78 condominium-style rooms and suites planned for the property. Developer Brent Gibson, managing director of the 2½-acre Isola Estate vineyard on the island's Onetangi Road, has obtained the necessary consents and signed up Langham Hotels International to manage leased-back accommodation for its first Langham Place-branded five-star boutique hotel outside Asia. Mr Gibson told the Dominion Post that a trading bank was supporting the $50 million project.
