Ride the rails to sun peaks resort with Via Rail

Effective December 2, 2008, VIA Rail is making schedule changes that will allow passengers travelling to and from Vancouver or Jasper to arrive in Kamloops late evening or early morning and then catch a shuttle to Sun Peaks Resort. Previously the train arrived in Kamloops in the middle of the night, making it difficult for the Sun Peaks guests. Tourism Sun Peaks will be working with the station manager in Kamloops to arrange shuttles to transport guests up the mountain from the train station once the new schedule takes effect December 2, 2008.

Distribution systems Amadeus and Galileo are in talks with the world’s largest rail ticket wholesaler to create pointto- point rail reservations. Rail Europe currently distributes its tickets via general sales agents (Rail Plus, Stella Rail Tickets, CIT and Infinity Rail) but it is in talks to get its segments available via reservation systems. Eurostar will become the first rail segment with its own global distribution system (GDS) code later this year, enabling it to compete directly with airlines.
