The Cook Islands' new departure tax has finally been confirmed and a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance. CINews Online quotes it, saying that from 1 April 09 adults will pay a $55 departure tax fee while children will still pay $15 until 31 August. Cabinet had last week reportedly decided to put the child's departure tax up to $40 but on the advice of MFEM, CI Tourism and the Airport Authority it had now decided against it. The paper says that from September a person under the age of 12 years will no longer pay departure tax.
