Grab a seat fares with Maori place names?

28 July 2009Flights & Airfares3 comments

Kia Ora!

Air New Zealand released their grab a seat fares with all the place names in Maori in the wee hours of this morning and it's caused a bit of confusion.

For some of the on-to-it people who receive the 'scoop the grab a seat' emails  it was too much - and we've fielded a few less-than-happy comments. It's Maori Language Week though and I guess this is one way of encouraging people to look it up and find out where Otautahi is?

The 'scoop the grab a seat service' sends out (by email) exactly what Air NZ release and as soon as they release it. If they say it in Maori then that's what we send. If you speak Maori then you would have had an even bigger head-start on some of us today!

If you're looking for a quick guide on Maori place names look no further: Read more »

Air New Zealand fare increase

4 July 2008Useful Information0 comments

Air New Zealand wishes to advise that Air New Zealand airfares across many routes will increase from 17 July in response to continued high jet fuel prices. Airfares sold in New Zealand for Tasman and domestic flights will rise by an average 3% while fares to North America, Asia and United Kingdom will rise by an average 5%. Air New Zealand regrets having to lift fares but with jet fuel now above US$170 a barrel we cannot continue to absorb the significantly higher cost of fuel, of which this increase will only partially recover. The increase will be effective for sale/ticketing on/after 17 July 2008.
