25 September 2009, 10:03 am Tours & Travel

South American overland adventure Kumuka Worldwide has launched a spectacular 49-day overland tour through South America, departing from Rio the day after Rio Carnivale. The bespoke tour has one departure only, 17 February 10, and includes a free Rio Carnivale Accommodation Package, valued at NZ$1,145 (if booked by 31 October 09), a six-day Roraima trek which will navigate the beautiful mountain region of the Guiana, Venezuela and Brazil borders, a three-day Angel Falls tour (including flights), a five-day Amazon River ferry cruise where travellers will sleep aboard the boat in hammocks and a two-day Amazon Jungle excursion, which will reach the meeting of the waters.

The overland tour will sun it up on Brazilian beaches and experience village culture at Brazilian native villages, do the samba at a Salvador street party, race dune buggies at the Lencois Maranhenses dunes and shop up a storm at the Belem Markets. All up, the Rio de Janeiro to Caracas tour travels from above the Tropic of Capricorn to well above the Equator. The Rio de Janeiro to Caracas Exploratory Overland Tour is priced at NZ$8,600pp.
