Cycle high country stations with PureTrails
PureTrails New Zealand has recently launched a new cycle tour through Molesworth and Rainbow stations. In an article in The Press, PureTrails New Zealand says cyclists can pedal at their own pace through the open tussock landscapes and river valleys on Molesworth, the country's largest station, backed up by a support vehicle all the way. Cycling distances range from 25 to 40km daily, but this is flexible and you can bike as far as you like. They stay in comfortable and character accommodation complete with hot showers and comfortable beds.
The four-day tour starts and finishes in Blenheim, and includes a stay on a working farm in the upper Awatere Valley, a night at Hanmer Springs and a night at Tophouse, Nelson Lakes. The tour is priced at $1135pp and includes twin-share accommodation, all meals, vehicle support with a local guide, and bike-repair support. Bike hire is an additional $150 and Picton transfers are $40 return.
Summer dates are 15-18 January, 01-04 February, 12- 15 March, 22-25 March and 28-31 March, or on demand for groups of four to 14 people. www.puretrailsnewzealand.co.nz.
